  1. When a camera cost more than your car, PC and all your furniture combined and doesn't come with a battery.

  2. jesus fucking hell..just buy a Sony UHC-8300 8K camera for 500.000bucks or the far cheaperer Sharp $77,000 8K camera…..both of which come with alll the crap and no dlc.

  3. For those who don't understand why red is so expensive.

    1. Red Digital is a cinema grade camera that shoots (all depending on the sensor) Full Frame 120Fps @ 8K RAW.
    2. The cameras are made modular so you can customize the build to your liking 'ON SET'… NOT YouTube.
    3. Each module is designed to work with the SPECIFIC idea of how you want your cameras set up for each shoot and equipment you own.
(Note:. ALL professional production company's use external audio recording for the final cut NEVER THE SCRATCH AUDIO)

I could go on and on, but the main question that Linus should be asking himself is "Why would I even think about buying a CINEMA grade camera to record YouTube videos". He could have gotten fine results with a Panasonic GH5!!!!
Linus, I love your channel…. But ripping on red for the price they ask for components that the produce, design, and manufacturer in house (THAT NO ONE FORCED YOU TO BUY) is kind of crappy. The development cost on a product like that costs millions to produce.
Why didn't you rip on the lens you had on the camera? If I'm not mistaken the lens is a Xeen that's about a $2000.00 lens. That's just a bunch of glass metal and plastic right?!

I will conceed on a couple of your points in regards to the cables, media, swing arm, and touch screen adapter. Red needs to drop the price on common things like that.

Bottom line is you didn't have to buy it… But you did so the only person you have to blame is your self.

  4. This is a cinema camera, meant to be filmimg real movies, with budgets in millions, not for youtubers, taht have budgets of how much per video?… That is why its all so expensive to you…

  5. Yeah they’re amazing digital cameras but their pricing is for corporations/studios, and their pricing is really shady. In five years this level of technology will be selling for a fraction, and you won’t need to spend $240 for their special, proprietary cable.

  6. Getting scammed for nice Cams, Damn I love watching linus but this just Hurts and i have to Laugh the whole time.
    Look forward to the movie!

  7. You make me want to kill myself you are worse than my worst production assistant I hope you’re not dying of a serious disease and you’re just embarrassing

  8. If I were the richest person in the world and shooting video was my life, I still would not be interested in RED. The reason why is because their nickel an di… I mean 5 grand and 10 granding is nothing more than a means of complication in order to nickel and dime. It's a dishonest tactic that adds nothing to the value in most cases but always adds to the cost.

  9. I don't get such prices, they are made solely to see if morons with deep enough pockets will buy them.

  10. After this video I started to think RED is just a huge corporate scam…. a legal scam, that basicly robs you if you are stupid enaugh. I mean it's cool and shit, but I bet the profit on all these stuff is like 1500% in minimum.

  11. Hahahaha my internetconnection is so bad i have to watch your videos in 720p xD at least they have 4k for the dudes with a house blessed by the internetgods, but 8k is still to much for yt 😀

  12. I like this style of video, it's good for consumers to call out hardware and software vendors on their stupid shit and make it public for the world to consume – things don't improve unless you make noise about them and yes the consumer base for this type hardware is limited but that doesn't mean you shouldn't complain when you spend this kind of money on gear that should be better and provide the items that should be come standard considering the $amount invested, it also provides an opportunity for a competitor in the same retail space to do everything that this other manufacturer isn't doing – if people are spending this much dough on this type of equpment, there is a huge opportunity to steal this customer base if you can do a better job and make a better product.

Plus I like hearing Linus swearing, the paragraph above should be reason #2 for why I like this video and this sentence should be reason #1 😀

  13. I don't get why didn't you buy 4-6K Sony, Canon, Blackmagic or Panasonic cameras. Don't get me wrong but this is overkill for you and it generate so much costs. Also not really useful gear for type of work that you do. To be precise you could work with Canon RAW, PRORES or CinemaDNG files. Canon has great AF for run and gun type situations, Sony and Panasonic has overall good cameras and Blackmagic gets you cinema quality if you need it. So you could go with Canon cameras like c200 outside of studio and Blackmagic with EF mount inside for 1/2 of the money and upadate them in like 3 years for new ones.

  14. This is worse than EA selling DLC's with no content in it for the price of the full game…but very similar in the idea of course.
People shouldn't buy from them anything and just force them go out of business until they include in the 50k price tag basic required functions…
